Our Boys
TIG - Hijo De La Tigre
Born 1990, Dun Stallion
'Tig', as his friends call him, is a majestic dun horse, 14.3 hands 1250 lbs, nicely built with a great temperament. He loves to work, and throws that trait in his foals. Tig loved roping and working cattle, he was a very good heel horse, who enjoyed his work. Probably one of the few stallions that can be trusted and depended on. A pleasing and kind disposition which he passes on to his foals as well as his dun factored coloring.
Tig has excellent working and racing bloodlines. His sire; Tiger Stripe, a grandson of Poco Bueno, was a cutting horse and a hackamore reining futurity winner in the early 70's. His dam, Assured Seas comes from some very fine racing lines, though we used her for team penning until a bad injury forced her into the broodmare business. Her dam Queen's Oceanette T.B., was one of our best head horses. This mare loved to cut cattle and run barrels. The love of working cows is very strong in these bloodlines. Assured Seas' sire; Assuredville, had a short but promising racing career until an injury retired him to stud. He is by the great thoroughbred Nashville , and out of the black type mare Miss Assured, dam of multiple stakes winners and two All American Futurity winners, one of which was Streakin Six. At 29 years old, Assured Seas was still going strong.
We have 100 % percent conception rate with Tig, all mares have conceived on the first heat cycle. We started standing him to the public in 2001 but only to a few outside quality mares each year. We are standing him in 2014 for the first time in 12 years. A complete semen evaluation was taken and he passed with 98% of initial motility and 2.1 Billion Sperm, this sample was taken 10 minutes after he bred a mare. Not too shaby for an old man! If you want an honest, hard working, good looking horse, with a great temperament, you may want to come and visit our boy and his family.
