Always in our hearts!
CHAMOIS - Tig's Spittin Image
Born 2003
Bred to Lil Bo Perks for a May 2015 foal. Great Barrel horse prospect, the foal, Pnut sold to a barrel racer.
SIS - La Tigre's True Grit
Bred to Lil Bo Perks for an April 2015 foal.
With Chamois’s dam, Blackie, aka Bitochic, being such an awesome barrel and Cow horse, and her grand dam, Queen’s Oceanette TB, who was such an awesome horse that did so well winning money in barrels, team roping, and cutting and this stallion Lil Bo Perks, a great barrel contender, this foal should be a wonderful barrel horse prospect.
SPIFFINIC
Born 2006
Chamois’ 2006 sorrel filly
Sire: Peppinic
Dam: Chamois (Tig's Spittin Image)
He sure is bred to be cowy! He is standing at Jimmy Flores' ranch in Perris, CA where he is currently leading the Jr. Reining and is second in Working Cow Horse. A second filly by Peppinic was born the same night as our 'Spif'. The two beautiful fillies are Peppinic's first and only babies this year.
Spiffinic's dam is out of our pretty dun mare, Chamois (Tig's Spittin Image), that was injured as a weanling, which limited her life to that of a broodmare. We are very happy with the quality of horses she is producing. Chamois is by our stallion, Hijo De La Tigre (a grandson of Poco Bueno). Chamois' dam was our mare Bitochick. She is by Mr. McChick by Triple Chick, out of a Go Man Go daughter, also boasting of bloodlines such as Apple Cash, and Oklahoma Star. Bitochick (Blacky) was a consistent barrel horse, winning many saddles and cash. We also found, in later life, that she loved team penning and sorting until a colt-induced injury left her crippled. She was always such a steady dependable mount.
Spiffinic's journal...
5-7-06 At one month, Spiffinic is now halter broke (normally we do this at one week, but due to my surgery it had to be put on hold) and we are going to work on loading in the trailer this week. I think she'll like it, anything that makes a loud noise or she can run and jump in to or out of will be fine by her. I found an article on her great grandma Fillinic, and this 'peppy' thing has the double whammy of being a clone of Fillinic and Queen's Oceanette, (Princess), who was Tig's Grandma (Assured Seas' mother). Both mares were quite high spirited, and energetic. When that energy was corralled and channeled in the right direction, they were both great working horses. So I think this very spirited filly will be the same. Its exciting to think I may have another filly like my old mare Princess, just hope I am not too old to enjoy all that spirit.
Every time I look at her, I think of what her bloodlines are: She is from Peppinic's first foal crop. Peppinic, who is a very consistent winner in reining is by Peppy Buc Ballou ( Peppy San Badger and Doc N Dixie) and out of the good mare, Sallinic (from Reminic and Miss Brooks Bar). Her dam, Tig's Spit N Image (Chamois), is by Hijo De La Tigre (a Tiger Stripe grandson of Poco Bueno) and out of Assured Seas ( Assuredville and Queen's Oceanette TB).
It's a rich blend of working cow horses and racing lines that will bring into this cross the intelligence, athletic ability to rein or work cattle, and the speed to put them where they need to be to control that cow and the stamina to keep them there as long as it takes to do an excellent work. I expect great things from this filly. With such athletes and cow horses as any great performance horse can boast of, one would be hard pressed to find another horse anywhere with the bloodlines and natural ability to do what quarter horses were made to do; work hard, long, and steadily with looks that appeal to the heart and soul of a horseman.
